Become a Provider

Enriching Lives is looking for caring and skilled individuals and families in the community who are interested in becoming Foster Parents or Family Home Providers.

Providers come from all different ethnic backgrounds, skills sets, educational level, neighborhood settings and family constellations. Becoming a Provider will enrich both your life and the lives of those you serve as you make an Individual a part of your family and community and assist them in reaching the goals they establish in their Individual Service Plan.

Providers receive a competitive stipend and ongoing support from the Enriching Lives staff and the Individual's multidisciplinary planning team which includes their Regional Center Representative, School/Day/Work Program Representative, Consultants, Medical Professionals, Family Members, and other people chosen by the Individual.
Certification Process

As a Provider, you will become certified through Enriching Lives and under state regulations to provide care and support to Individuals in your own home. Enriching Lives will support and assist you through the certification process to become either a Foster Parent or a Family Home Provider depending on whether you choose to serve children or adults. The process usually takes between 4-8 weeks. Certification requirements include a series of applicable continuing education requirements, criminal background checks, home study, medical exams, interviews, and reference checks.

Experience as a caregiver, mental health worker, CNA, or RN is helpful, but not necessary. Enriching Lives offers opportunities for Providers to expand their skill sets to meet the needs of the Individuals served.

Individuals Matched with Providers

Individuals are referred to Enriching Lives by Redwood Coast Regional Center, North Bay Regional Center, or Alta California Regional Center to be matched with Providers whose skills and lifestyle meet their needs and preferences.  Individuals have varying diagnosis and needs such as intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or brain injury.  They may also have other medical or mental health diagnosis and can range from high functioning, independent Individuals, to Individuals with significant behaviors or total physical healthcare needs.
